SUMMER DISCOVERY DELIVERED VIRTUALLY

Summer REACH

Summer REACH Virtual Camp
We are excited to announce our programming for Virtual Summer REACH! All activities are free, and there is no need to sign up for individual classes. And while there are some suggestions in terms of age of participants, all students are free to attend whatever class they feel comfortable with!

WEEKLY SCHEDULE

LEGO Building Challenge (All Ages) w/ Mr. Prichard

Mondays from 9:00 – 9:45 AM

Everyone loves LEGOs. There’s no better way to stimulate imagination and learn the finer points of building and engineering than snapping bricks together and letting your dreams come to life. Each week we will have a new building challenge, learning and collaborating together as we share our unique builds. Come and create everything from skyscrapers and bridges to futuristic spaceships and your dream home in this fun and stimulating activity.

Math Games (All Ages) w/ Ms. Delisi

Mondays from 10:00 – 10:45 AM

There’s no better way to keep your math skills sharp all summer long than by playing games that reinforce fundamental math skills. With a variety of sneaky educational games that can be played virtually, it all adds up to a lot of learning that will feel like fun with your friends.

Camp-in-a-Box STEM Activity (All Ages) w/ Mr. Prichard and Ms. Bader

Mondays – Thursdays from 10:00 – 10:45 AM

It’s a Camp-in-a-Box. Each day we will complete a STEM based project with the materials included in your box. These activities are designed to get your student thinking critically and creatively about the wonders of our world, from the farthest reaches of space to the deepest parts of the ocean. Each week will have a different theme focusing on science, technology, engineering, and math. Our first week is Reach for the Stars, all about space and astronomy.

Fitness Fun (All Ages) w/ Mr. DJ

Mondays from 11:00 – 11:45 AM

It’s more important than ever to get exercise and keep your body moving. Luckily US basketball coach and athlete Mr. DJ is here to keep you fit and help get out your energy. Each class will include a circuit of unique exercises and movement games designed to get the heart pumping and keeping your muscles strong. All activities will be tailored to every age group, so come and join your friends and get ready to move.

Virtual Games Galore (LS) w/ Ms. Kulick

Mondays from 2:00 – 2:45 PM

Games Galore is all about having fun with friends, but also have been proven to help improve cognitive flexibility, problem-solving skills, working memory, and focus. Students will challenge themselves in a fun environment that encourages a growth mindset. Exploring games with peers will provide the opportunity for children to build social and emotional skills such as communication and collaboration. Games might include Virtual Escape Rooms, Online Pictionary, and Kahoot Trivia Challenges and so much more.

Art Camp (LS) w/ Ms. Rago

Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9:00 – 9:45 AM

Are you someone that loves to learn new art techniques? Do you like to learn about artists? Then this is the camp for you. During this camp, we will learn new skills while letting our imaginations run free. Join us as we work on painting projects, drawing projects, and even some sculpture. This camp will take your creativity to the next level!

Spanish (ECD & LS) w/ Mrs. Reistle

Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10:00 – 10:45 AM

¿Hablas español? No worries, Mrs. Reistle can teach you how, no matter what your experience level. Numerous studies have proven the benefits of children learning a second or third language at a young age, and summer is the best time to learn something new. Through songs and games, this program is designed for beginners, as well as those who are ready to begin basic conversations. Será una fiesta.

Indoor Games (All Ages) w/ Mrs. Daly

Tuesdays from 11:00 – 11:45 AM

Everyone loves games, but they can be more than just a fun way to pass the time. As Mrs. Daly says, “Games are skill builders.” Come and play everything from making music, scavenger hunts, match the LEGO building and so much more. It’s a great way to learn and have fun along with one of our favorite SPS teachers.

Harry Potter Read Along (LS) w/ Mr. Prichard

Tuesdays from 2:00 – 2:45 PM

Dust off your wands and your reading robes and get ready for some magic. Inspired by some of the celebrity readings online (though, Mr. Prichard swears he had the idea first) we will be reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone chapter by chapter. You can follow along in your own books, simply listen to the story, or help read aloud to your friends. So head over to Platform 9 ¾, and get on board the Hogwarts Express.

Story Time (ECD) w/ Ms. Angela and Ms. Delisi

Tuesdays & Thursdays from 2:00 – 2:45 PM

Come and listen to a story every Tuesday and Thursday. It is a great chance to see your friends and hear a wonderful tale as read by Ms. Delisi.

Creative Writing (LS) w/ Ms. Reyes

Wednesdays from 10:00 – 10:45 AM

Calling all poets, playwrights, story writers and lovers of the written word. Each week will include writing prompts aimed to help students create and imagine with language. Reading and writing help boost critical and creative thinking, and there’s no better way to improve your writing than sharing your work with friends. Our summer creative writing activity will culminate in a literary journal that includes our best work. All you need is paper, a pencil, and your imagination.

Act it Out (All Ages) w/ Mrs. Daly

Wednesdays from 11:00 – 11:45 AM

What better way to improve your reading skills than by bringing stories to life. Each week, you’ll read an exciting new story with Mrs. Daly and then bring that story to life by stepping right into the shoes of your favorite characters. Learn the important art of literacy, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and improvisation.

Basketball (All Ages) w/ Mr. DJ

Wednesdays from 11:00 – 11:45 AM

Grab a ball and zoom in with coach DJ for some indoor basketball. It’s a great time to practice the fundamentals like dribbling, passing, playing defense, and learning how to be a team player. So while basketball season is on hold, become an even better player with Coach DJ’s help.

Drawing (ECD) w/ Ms. Emma

Wednesdays from 2:00 – 2:45 PM

Summer is a perfect time to let your imagination and creativity run wild. Whether you want to learn a new skill, practice your talents, or simply want to create with your friends, Ms. Emma will provide great ideas, templates, and inspiration for your next project. All you need is your pencils, crayons, markers, paper, play-doh and your wild imagination.

Ms. Kulick’s Book Club (LS) w/ Ms. Kulick

Thursdays from 2:00 – 2:45 PM

Each week Ms Kulick will host an online book club meant not only to advance literacy skills, but provide a space for SEL education through literature. As someone once said, “we lose ourselves in books; we find ourselves there too.” The first selection will be announced soon, so get ready to crack open your book and explore new worlds.
