Greetings from the SPS Parents’ Association

Hello SPS Families,

Greetings from the SPS Parents’ Association, and welcome to all new SPS families! Though the beginning of the school year is still weeks away, we look forward to the upcoming year and welcoming friends old and new. However, before moving ahead we want to take a minute to recognize all those involved in the PA last year, from officers and chairs to class parents and volunteers — Thank you for all your efforts and support of our students, teachers, and staff to keep the PA and our community going during a difficult and unpredictable time!

The Parents’ Association(PA) provides many opportunities to get involved and support the SPS Community through various interests and time commitments. One such way is volunteering as a Class Parent. We are seeking individuals interested in participating as a Class Parent for their child’s grade during the 2021-2022 school year. Typically two Class Parents are placed per grade, dependent on class size. The role is open to any parent who wishes to participate. Class Parents are an important part of the SPS Parents’ Association (PA), helping foster community among classroom families and assisting communication between the PA and families. Beginning this year, Class Parents will be supported by a Class Parent Coordinator. The Coordinators will be a resource throughout the year, providing Class Parents with regular communication and assistance. Class Parents work directly with their grade’s teachers, fellow classroom families and the PA Class Parent Coordinator to do the following:

  • Collect donations for and manage the Class Fund.
  • Communicate regularly with classroom families about reminders, upcoming events, important information and PA meetings.
  • Coordinate classroom events and celebrations with teachers and families.
  • Plan and coordinate Auction class contributions.
  • Plan and coordinate teacher and staff gifts throughout the year on behalf of the class.
  • Regularly attend PA Meetings and other SPS events, such as: PA Welcome Party, Harvest Festival, Auction, etc.

If you are interested in becoming a Class Parent, please complete this form by August 13th. Thank you in advance for your willingness to contribute your time to SPS.

Information about additional ways to get involved in Parents’ Association activities, events and committees will be provided as the start of the year approaches. If you have questions or would like to discuss other ways to get involved, email us at: We look forward to seeing you in September and hope you enjoy the rest of the summer.

Best Wishes —
