Based on the current recommendations and the trends we see in the data collected in our area related to transmission, we have decided to stagger our opening and return each grade level to in-building instruction in a slower and more deliberate approach. Schools around the country that have followed this approach have found success in maintaining the safety of the students and faculty. Additionally, we appreciate the need for students and families to return to a school routine, in the building or through a remote learning model, which is so important for children.
The Administrative Team has been working since earlier in the spring to determine what school might look like in September. Unfortunately, we simply do not know right now exactly what to expect because of all the changes and therefore we must continue to make plans for the most likely scenario. One thing that has never changed is that we will only resume normal operations in our school building when it’s safe to do so
The past few days have been filled with an unreal amount of sadness and uncertainty in an already unbelievable time for us all. The ongoing violence in Philadelphia is hard to watch and, for many of you living so close to the events, hard to live through. We are constantly challenged in ways we don’t always understand, and this experience is no different.
GivingTuesday has announced Tuesday, May 5 as a day of “Global Action for Giving and Unity” in response to COVID-19, and we would like to take this opportunity to demonstrate how the SPS community is giving back and helping during the COVID-19 crisis by showcasing what our families, faculty & alumni are already doing!
