Ms. Cronin-Connolly’s “The NAACP’s Mission to Forge a More Perfect Union”

National History Day® (NHD) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) are pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Marian Cronin-Connolly, as one of only 15 teachers to contribute to Building a More Perfect Union, a new collection of lesson plans and essays in support of the NEH’s special initiative to advance civic education and the study of U.S. history and culture in preparation for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.

Important Info Regarding a Return to School After Spring Break

Continuous Enrollment

SPS utilizes a Continuous Enrollment model for our re-enrollment process. Students are automatically re-enrolled for the upcoming school year unless the School receives an Official Withdrawal Form by a deadline of the third Friday in January, which falls on January 15, 2021.

Phased Reopening Plan

Based on the current recommendations and the trends we see in the data collected in our area related to transmission, we have decided to stagger our opening and return each grade level to in-building instruction in a slower and more deliberate approach. Schools around the country that have followed this approach have found success in maintaining the safety of the students and faculty. Additionally, we appreciate the need for students and families to return to a school routine, in the building or through a remote learning model, which is so important for children.

Reopening 2020 Update

The Administrative Team has been working since earlier in the spring to determine what school might look like in September. Unfortunately, we simply do not know right now exactly what to expect because of all the changes and therefore we must continue to make plans for the most likely scenario.
