Fourth Graders engaged in abstract, experiential painting that allowed them to mix colors and test out new techniques. These “action paintings” were not only about the process, but the finished products are quite beautiful too!

Second Grade students in Mr. Maxwell’s and Mrs. Sweet’s class spent the past few weeks practicing reading and playing rhythms using instruments in their instrument kits. They also learned the song “Pumpkin Bones” and added instruments and choreography to the song.

Our Fourth Graders completed their Mixed Media Birch Trees last week! Students used pastel shading techniques and watercolors to create colorful forests.

SPS Fourth Grade Students studied the dynamic artwork of Contemporary Artist, Yayoi Kusama and her use of the pumpkin in both 2D work and 3D work. Student then envisioned and created their own pumpkin designs in the style of Kusama.

Pottery and mugs crafted by the Seventh and Eighth Graders are also on display in the west stairwell gallery.  Students used handbuilding techniques to create sturdy, usable pieces of pottery and finished them off with glaze.
